Challenge
This major global financial services player offers private and corporate pensions to the UK market. Younger consumer segments, though, are putting off buying a pension or keeping it adequately funded, because it feels too far away. The P&L owner was searching for a solution to ‘nudge’ behavior and issue the appropriate wake-up call.
Solution
We used our Change Different methodology to help our client explore the challenge using the first step in the 123 Framework™: the 1-day MVP. We prepared SMEs from our client, brought in our own UX architect, engaged two real consumers, and orchestrated and ran a day in which we explored marketing & proposition, user experience, operational impact, commercial viability, technology & data, and scaling options.
Benefit
By mid-afternoon, working alongside real consumers, we had fleshed out a possible and innovative solution, complete with paper prototypes. The P&L owner understood the journey, the proposition, the financial break-even, the operational impact, and the technology & data considerations. On the swing-o-meter that we use to measure confidence, he was now indicating “likely to be viable”. He was able to confidently commit to a 2-week MVP to develop a working prototype.
