Insurance Innovation Bootcamp for Zurich
Challenge
Zurich wanted to empower their Enterprise Services Leadership team to innovate. They also had key areas for investigation, enhanced by the pandemic and its potential implications on ways of working. They wanted an opportunity to come together as a team, reflect on these key areas of business resiliency and sustainable operations, gain team alignment on innovation and find practical ways to take opportunities forward.
Solution
Ninety delivered their Virtual Insurance Innovation Bootcamp with the Enterprise Services Leadership team. Across the three days, the team worked through developing problem statements for their business areas of focus, ideating around them, and assessing some through the lenses of desirability, feasibility and viability.
Following the Bootcamp, Zurich decided to pursue developing one of these ideas using Ninety’s 123 Framework. In advance of their project with Ninety, the sponsor decided to put the taskforce for the development of this idea through a second Bootcamp, to rapidly enable them to upskill themselves on innovation tools ,techniques and mindsets to decrease the risk of the project.
Benefits
The shared time and space which the Bootcamp gave the team, and the skills that they learnt, helped them to come up with an idea that represented a strong business opportunity. The team came away feeling empowered in their ability to innovate and embed what they had learnt. The Bootcamp covered the innovation process from Stage 0 in the 123 Framework™ – grasping the problem and ideating – to the end of Stage 1 – exploring an idea from all commercial angles and decided whether to pass, fail or pivot it.
Putting the taskforce through a Bootcamp before the project meant that they were rapidly upskilled and aligned on innovation. This approach increases the chance of success in the project setting and enhanced the capabilities of the team.
Testimonials
“Your team was really good. I’ve been a consultant, and had a pretty good team then, but your guys were great. I’ve managed consultants over the years: some have been good, some poor; yours were in the ‘excellent’ category.”
